Our vision is to cultivate a vibrant international community of scholars and clinicians committed to improving patient outcomes and experiences through research, education and professional dialogue.
The field of perioperative care is evolving rapidly, shaped by the expertise of a diverse range of professionals who support patients throughout their surgical journey. Today, high-quality perioperative care extends well beyond the operating theatre to encompass the holistic optimisation of patients before surgery, their management during the procedure itself, and to support them throughout recovery, often continuing into community. When delivered effectively, perioperative care is grounded in the best available evidence and characterised by multidisciplinary collaboration across the entire patient pathway.
Advances in Perioperative Care provides a platform for multidisciplinary learning and knowledge exchange. Our mission is to publish high-quality, clinically relevant work that informs practice, challenges convention and drives continuous improvement. We begin our publishing journey with a regular series of case vignettes – concise, practical accounts designed to share experiences and insights from clinical practice. We hope this format resonates with clinicians, nurses and allied health professionals, offering accessible learning that reflects the realities of modern healthcare. Such vignettes offer individuals and teams the opportunity to share expertise and innovations in patient care, spanning diverse areas of practice including basic science, clinical management, service improvement and policy development.
