The eruption of the global Covid-19 pandemic, the war in Ukraine, the economic crisis, and unrest in many areas around the globe have dramatically deepened social differences in educational opportunities, a topic central to sociology of education since the 1970s and deeply relevant to the agenda of social pedagogy, which is focussed on building inclusion. This special series aims to link the well-being and resilience agenda to social pedagogy as a theory or as a praxis.
The series will focus on works that use the lens of social education/social pedagogy to discuss quality vs. equity, to discuss the quality of outcomes vs. wellbeing. Contributors are from social pedagogy, education, sociology of education and political sciences to present their research findings and their theoretical contributions to look at education systems, education policies, educational praxis and environmental considerations around access and quality in the framework of social pedagogy. These subjects remain an important endeavour for sociologists of education and for social pedagogues.
