Based on the 2nd International Conference on Moisture in Buildings (ICMB23), which was held online on the 3rd and 4th July 2023, this special series collates the highest quality contributions from the ICMB23 in order to act as an archive of this focused academic gathering. Moisture in buildings is a field of study with direct, tangible and wide-ranging implications on many areas including climate change mitigation/adaptation, built environment decarbonisation, and health and wellbeing. With the aim of bringing together and consolidating the unusually interdisciplinary research community around this topic, the ICMB23 was held on the  3rd and 4th July 2023 as the second event of a biannual conference series organised by the UK Centre for Moisture in Buildings (UKCMB): https://ukcmb.org.
